Controller support in Sludgineers
Steam lists Full Controller Support for Sludgineers, along with explicit DualShock and DualSense controller support. That is the strongest of Valve's three tiers — it means the whole game, menus included, is navigable on a pad without touching a mouse.
Sludgineers also carries a set of accessibility-adjacent Steam tags worth knowing about:
- Mouse Only Option — the entire game is playable with just a mouse, no keyboard needed.
- Custom Volume Controls — audio channels can be adjusted separately.
- Playable at your own pace — no enforced time pressure.
- Playable without Timed Input — nothing depends on reaction speed or timed presses.
For a game whose core verb is “hold a hose on a thing”, that combination is well judged. Sludgineers is genuinely comfortable one-handed on a mouse or laid back with a pad.
How controller support got there
It was not automatic. The Sludgineers demo shipped in March 2026 with rougher gamepad handling, and the developers worked on it in public. The June 2026 update that accompanied Steam Next Fest listed “gamepad improvements” among its changes, and in the official FAQ thread the developers noted requests for right-stick movement and deadzone customisation as things they wanted to address.
Sludgineers on Steam Deck
Valve has not issued a Steam Deck compatibility rating for Sludgineers. There is no Verified, Playable or Unsupported badge on the store page as of 26 August 2026. Unrated is the normal state for a brand-new small indie release; Valve's review queue takes time and does not prioritise by quality.
Everything else points the right way. The Steam Deck's hardware is far beyond the 2.0 GHz / 8 GB requirement, Sludgineers ships a native Linux build so it does not even need Proton, the game is 2D and battery-friendly, and full controller support is already listed. The realistic risks are the usual unrated-title ones: small UI text at 800p, and launcher or store-overlay rough edges.
One specific request appears in the official Sludgineers FAQ thread: a player asked about mouse and keyboard support on a docked Steam Deck for the full version. Given that the game has a Mouse Only Option, docked M&K play should be straightforward.
Is Sludgineers on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation or Xbox?
No. Sludgineers is a PC, macOS and Linux release only. Snickerdoodle Games and Funk Games have not announced a Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation or Xbox version, and nothing in their public communications suggests one is in progress.
This is worth stating plainly because a cozy pixel-art cleaning game is exactly the sort of thing people assume must be on Switch. It is not. If a console port is ever announced it would come through the Funk Games channels and the Steam news feed, and we will update the updates page when it does.
Is there a Sludgineers mobile version?
No official iOS or Android release exists. The closest thing is the free HTML5 build on itch.io, which may load in a mobile browser, but it is not designed, tested or supported for phones — the upgrade tree in particular expects a mouse-sized pointer and drag-to-pan on a large canvas.
Any app store listing or APK claiming to be Sludgineers is unofficial. See the download page for the only legitimate sources.
