How Long Is Sludgineers? Completion Time and 100% Guide

Sludgineers takes roughly 5–6 hours to complete 100%, including all 25 Steam achievements. None of the achievements are missable, and achievement hunters rate the difficulty at about 1 out of 10. A main-story-only run lands a little under that.

How long Sludgineers takes

About 5–6 hours. That figure comes from achievement-completion coverage and matches the shape of the game: a finite upgrade tree, a finite region list, a quest board that runs alongside progression rather than extending it, and no prestige loop to restart the curve.

Play styleApproximate timeWhat you'll see
Free browser build20–40 minutesThe core vacuum loop and a slice of the upgrade tree
Steam demo30–60 minutesLimited regions, levels, quests and upgrades
Main progression~4–5 hoursAll regions unlocked, refinery automated, drones online
100% completion~5–6 hoursAll 25 achievements, tree fully bought out

Why it is not longer

Sludgineers is deliberately a finite incremental rather than an endless one. The upgrade tree has a bottom, the regions run out, and once you have automated the refinery and bought the last nodes there is no mechanic designed to keep you going. There is no New Game+, no ascension, no prestige.

The developers have listed a prestige system on a “consider” list for post-release updates, but they have not committed to it. If that ever ships, expect the completion figure to change substantially — prestige is the mechanic that turns a 6-hour incremental into a 60-hour one. Watch the updates page.

Getting all 25 achievements

Sludgineers is one of the friendliest 100% runs you will find. There are 25 achievements, none of them missable, and the community difficulty rating is 1 out of 10. The overwhelming majority unlock simply by playing the game to completion — progression milestones, upgrade purchases, quest completions and cumulative cleaning totals.

Because nothing is missable, you do not need a checklist while you play. Finish the game normally, then mop up whichever cumulative achievements have not popped by replaying a high-value job a few times. The full list is on the Sludgineers achievements page.

How to spend those hours well

Five hours is short enough that inefficient upgrade decisions cost you a noticeable fraction of the game. Three things move the needle most:

  1. Fix energy early. The Energy Level meter, not suction power, is what ends most early jobs. See energy and battery management.
  2. Buy multipliers before raw power. Cash and resource multipliers compound across every remaining job; a flat suction bump does not. See the best upgrade order.
  3. Automate the refinery as soon as it is affordable. It is the single largest quality-of-life jump in Sludgineers. See refinery automation.

Is 5–6 hours enough for $6.99?

At full price that is about a dollar an hour; at the $5.59 launch price, about ninety cents. For comparison, most cozy indie games in this bracket land between one and three dollars an hour. Sludgineers is priced honestly for its length — it does not pretend to be a hundred-hour idler, and it costs accordingly. Whether that trade works for you is really a question about what you want from an evening. See is Sludgineers worth it.

How Sludgineers compares on length

Five to six hours puts Sludgineers firmly in the short-cozy-indie bracket, which is a deliberate position rather than a shortfall. Games in this space are generally designed to be finished, not lived in, and Sludgineers prices itself at $6.99 accordingly.

If you came to Sludgineers expecting the third column, the mismatch is real and worth knowing about before you buy. If you came for a complete, polished weekend game, the length is exactly right. See is Sludgineers worth it.
