Sludgineers Guides: Upgrades, Money, Refinery and Drones

Sludgineers runs about 5–6 hours, which is short enough that bad upgrade decisions cost you a real fraction of the game. These Sludgineers guides cover the whole progression: the first hour, energy management, upgrade priority, money, the refinery, drones, power-ups and quests.

The three things that matter most

If you read nothing else on this Sludgineers wiki, internalise these:

  1. Energy ends your jobs, not sludge. The Energy Level meter drains while the vacuum is running. When it empties you get a Low Energy warning and you are done, whatever the Job Progress bar says. Early on, energy capacity is worth more than raw suction because it is the thing actually capping your payout.
  2. Multipliers compound; flat upgrades don't. The Job Complete screen applies a multiplier to Completion Cash. Anything that raises a multiplier improves every remaining job in Sludgineers. A flat power bump improves one job slightly.
  3. Object Bonuses are free money you can miss. Cars, sheds, shopfronts and signposts buried under the sludge pay out separately when uncovered. Clearing a small area completely often beats skimming a large one.

Where the data on this wiki comes from

Everything in these Sludgineers guides is drawn from the official Steam store page, the developers' Steam news posts and FAQ thread, and direct observation of in-game screenshots. Where exact figures — individual upgrade costs, the full region list, the complete achievement names — are still being compiled from play, we say so on the page rather than guessing. Nothing here is invented.

A suggested Sludgineers progression route

Sludgineers has no fixed story path, so what it needs is a progression route rather than a walkthrough. This is the order that wastes the least of your 5–6 hours:

Frequent Sludgineers problems, and the page that fixes them

Most questions people bring to a Sludgineers guide are one of five things. If you are stuck, you are almost certainly stuck on one of these:

Guides that do not exist here, and why

There is no Sludgineers cheats page, no trainer page and no mod page on this wiki. Sludgineers has no mod support and no cheat codes, so those pages would exist only to catch searches rather than to answer them. Likewise there is no per-achievement page — all 25 are batched into one list, because a page per achievement in a game where nothing is missable would be noise.

Sludgineers FAQ

What should I upgrade first in Sludgineers?

Energy capacity and cash multipliers before raw suction power. In Sludgineers the Energy Level meter is what ends most early jobs, and multipliers on the Job Complete screen improve every subsequent job rather than just the current one.

Is there a Sludgineers walkthrough?

Sludgineers has no fixed story path, so it needs a progression guide rather than a walkthrough. Start with how to play, then energy management, then upgrade order.
