Sludgineers Updates, Patch Notes and What's Planned Next
Sludgineers released on 25 August 2026, so the post-launch history is short. No DLC is announced and no formal roadmap exists. The developers have publicly flagged three open items: a possible prestige system, more variety in the first fifteen minutes, and controller deadzone customisation.

Post-launch status
Sludgineers is one day past release as this page was last verified. The developers shipped a content-complete, fully translated, Steam-approved build after a month of playtesting and balancing through August, so the launch version is intended as finished rather than a first draft.
There is no published roadmap, no announced DLC and no season of content. That is normal and appropriate for a $6.99 indie game from a two-person team — and it means anything you read claiming a confirmed Sludgineers content roadmap is guesswork.
Update history so far
Most of the Sludgineers patch history predates launch and landed on the demo. It is worth reading anyway, because it shows what the developers respond to.

What the developers have said they're considering
A prestige system
The single most requested addition. In the official Steam FAQ thread the developers placed a prestige system on a “consider” list for post-release updates — explicitly not a commitment. It matters more than it sounds: Sludgineers currently ends at 5–6 hours when the upgrade tree runs out, and prestige is the standard incremental-genre mechanic for restarting the curve with permanent multipliers. If it ever ships, the game's length changes shape entirely.
Better early-game pacing
The developers acknowledged that the upgrade tree needs improvement across the opening fifteen minutes and said they planned to add more variety to early-game mechanics. This was said during the demo period, so some of it may already be in the 1.0 build — the launch version added more tool upgrades and power-ups, both of which push in that direction.
Controller refinements
Right-stick movement and deadzone customisation were noted as controller improvements the developers wanted to make. Sludgineers already ships full controller support with DualShock and DualSense compatibility, so these are refinements rather than gaps. See controller support.
Steam Deck
A player asked in the FAQ thread about mouse-and-keyboard support on a docked Steam Deck for the full version. Valve has still not issued a Deck compatibility rating for Sludgineers.
Is there Sludgineers DLC?
No. Sludgineers has no DLC, no expansion, no season pass and no microtransactions. One $6.99 purchase buys the complete game. Nothing in the developers' public communications points to paid add-ons being planned.
Is there a Sludgineers sequel?
If you want something to play in the meantime, our similar games section covers the closest neighbours. As for a direct follow-up: none is announced. The only hint anywhere is the co-op remark — the developers said co-op would be “pretty neat for a future sequel”, which is a stray thought in a forum reply rather than an announcement. Snickerdoodle Games' other released title is JankyBot, a physics puzzle game, so a direct follow-up is not obviously next.
